Tori Holmes - Nectar Juicery
March 21, 2018
Meet Tori, owner of Nectar Juicery and adventurer who rowed across the Atlantic Ocean by living on 86 days of freeze dried food. It was through this experience that made Tori realize the importance of nutrition. After studying Holistic Nutrition and herbology, Tori dove into the science of juice with a belief that juice is a promise to nourish your body and mind.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START YOUR BUSINESS?
I had breast cancer at 23 which introduced me to alternative medicine. Nectar was a way for me to take my passions and lessons learned on the journey of recovery toward my wellness and share it with my community.
WHAT HAS BEEN A STRUGGLE THAT YOU'VE EXPERIENCED DURING THIS JOURNEY?
I always want to grow faster than I am. I struggle with this on the daily. By the time I've launched something, I've already moved onto my next goal. I remember when I launched Nectar, I said to myself, "As long as I sell one juice, I will be happy!". But once I sold that one juice, I wanted to sell 100, then 1000. I am always looking into the future and trying to see what is possible.
HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THIS STRUGGLE? OR ARE YOU STILL WORKING ON IT?
Working on being present and happy with where I am currently at. To settle my restless mind, I have a daily gratitude practice. This helps me celebrate exactly where I am and be in the moment. It takes work and it's not easy, but helps every time I forget to acknowledge my milestones, no matter how small they are.
WHAT IS THE GREATEST LESSON/ADVICE THAT YOU'D SHARE TO SOMEONE STARTING THEIR BUSINESS?
Through the years I have learned, worry is wasted energy that does not change the outcome and just causes suffering. I work to stay focused on my “why” daily and put my efforts toward my vision as a daily practice. When I feel off course I go to my West 7th location and sit under my "Heal Thy Self" sign. My “why” has always been to help people connect to their body and empower a path to “heal-thy self” aka healthy self.
