Meet Courtney — a graduate student and full-time Project Director at the Atl'ka7tsem/Howe Sound Marine Stewardship Initiative (MSI) who is passionate about protecting and restoring regional aquatic health in Atl'ka7tsem/Howe Sound.

MSI is an organization that works tirelessly to create healthier oceans. MSI is committed to employing a two-eyed seeing approach in their work by strengthening Indigenous Knowledge and Western Science together. The program researches, monitors, educates and does community engagement in support of marine planning activities that protects our environment.

MSI aims to reintroduce knowledge of the marine environment and promote reconciliation to Squamish Nation youth as it has been lost over the past century and a half due to colonization, industrialization and pollution.

We're honoured to donate $1500 towards hiring Indigenous researchers to ensure that the Indigenous ways of sustainable living is included in their work.
