Community Fund: Anh N.
Meet Anh — stay-at-home supermom and disabilities' advocate. Anh and her husband are raising two sons who are diagnosed with ASD and ADHD. Although the government provides partial funding, the family is left to pay for hefty biweekly therapy sessions and medical assessments that cost as much as food and rent.
Regardless, Anh is determined to provide these resources for her children because they are essential in helping her kids live a healthy, happy childhood. Thanks to your help, we were able to provide Anh and her family with a prepaid VISA gift card and cash to put towards her sons' medical expenses.
Anh has a three practical tips for parents who are raising children with special needs:
- Take care of yourself. She is still learning this but it really makes a difference.
- Do what you can. Sometimes you have to say no or take a break to do nothing.
- Ask for help when you need it. Her husband joined a Dad support Zoom group and unexpectedly met someone who lived nearby. They left the group and became friends!
